NOTICE OF ADOPTED ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village Board of the Village of Birchwood adopted the following ordinance amendments at its duly noticed meeting held on April 14, 2026. These ordinances take effect upon passage and publication as required by law.

Ordinance Amendment No. 6-2026

Sec. 10-231 – Abatement (Chapter 10 – Environment, Article VIII – Public Nuisances)

This ordinance amends Section 10-231 of the Village Code relating to the abatement of public nuisances. The amendment clarifies enforcement authority among Village officials, outlines procedures for summary abatement where immediate danger exists, and establishes notice requirements and timelines for abatement of nuisances that do not pose an immediate threat.

Ordinance Amendment No. 7-2026

Amending Chapter 10 – Environment, Article VIII – Public Nuisances (Secs. 10-228 through 10-230)

This ordinance amends Sections 10-228 through 10-230 of the Village Code governing public nuisances. The amendments update and clarify categories of public nuisances affecting public health, morals and decency, and peace and safety, and assign enforcement responsibility to appropriate Village officials or departments.

Ordinance No. 8-2026

Amending Section 288(b) of the Village Code Relating to the Annual Organizational Meeting

This ordinance amends Section 288(b) of the Village Code to provide that the Village Board shall conduct its annual organizational meeting at the next regularly scheduled meeting following the spring election, unless otherwise designated by the Village Board, rather than on a fixed calendar date.
