Caucus Minutes 2017

The Village of Birchwood held a caucus on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at the Birchwood Village Hall to determine names for candidates for the spring election.

1. Call Caucus to order by President Hurckman.
2. President Hurckman assigns Nancy Seffinga to act as Presiding Official of the Caucus.
3. Seffinga chooses Kathy Paquette and Linda Zillmer as tabulators to count ballots if needed.
4. Call for nominations for Village President.
   1. Seffinga requests nominations for the Office of President.
      1. Seffinga nominates Hurckman, second by VanGilder.
      2. Hurckman nominates Depoister, second by Seffinga.
   2. Seffinga asks “are there any more nominations for Office of President?” And repeated three times “are there any more nominations for Office of President?”
   3. After hearing none, Seffinga announces that nominations are closed for the office of the President.
5. Call for nominations for two Village Trustee positions.
   1. Seffinga requests nominations for the office of Village Trustee.
      1. Depoister nominates Rocky VanGilder, second by Hurckman.
      2. Seffinga nominates Small, second by VanGilder.

• Hurckman nominates Kathy VanGilder, second by Seffinga.

1. VanGilder nominates Walker, second by Hurckman.
2. Paquette nominates Davies, second by Depoister.

1. Seffinga asks “are there any more nominations for Village Trustee?” And repeated three times “are there any more nominations for Village Trustee?”
2. After hearing none, Seffinga announces that nominations are closed for the office of the Trustee.

6. A secret ballot must be conducted to bring the candidates for trustee to four names. Papers were passed to all who were present; seven total.
7. Tabulators counted; Rocky VanGilder, Small, Kathy VanGilder, Walker are on spring ballot.
8. Motion to close nominations by Small, second by Hurckman.
9. Motion to adjourn by Hurckman, second by Depoister.
